Stephen Fry Tweeted earlier today that he and Alan Davies are heading to Perth in late October for two live QI shows.

The shows are at the Burswood Theatre on Friday the 21st of October at 8:00pm and the second on Sunday the 23rd at 3:00pm

QI has been showing in Perth over the last couple of years, but started in the UK in 2006.

• Arrived in London on the Eurostar from Paris.
• Two night in Hotel near Marble Arch (6/10)
• Jen has a bad head cold, so I spent an afternoon walking around Hyde Park & Oxford Street. Made friends with a squirell!
• Went to the Victoria & Albert Museum, great stuff, enjoyed the 20th century Theatre & Performance display.
• Moved to a Hotel in Earls Court (we feel like real Aussies now!). Considering how much we are paying, it is disapointing! They wanted 2 pounds an hour for WiFi-I demanded they give it to me, as it is listed on their website as a ‘feature’. Breakfast is very basic ‘Continental’ (3/10)
• Went to The Lion King-Fantastic show! Highly recommend it!
• Went to Les Miserables – Matt Lucas from ‘Little Britain‘ played the Inn Keeper – he was fantastic and what a wonderful show!

So here is a list of where we are at – it being many highs and lows.

• Arrived safely in Roscoff, Brittany. Met a nice couple from Duncraig who we shared a taxi drive into Morlaix. Found an Avis hire car at the train station (another Ford Fiesta!).
• Headed to Camlez in Brittany – only an hour’s drive, but hit a kerb and wrecked the front right wheel Was helped by a very nice lady who let us change the wheel in her driveway and provided us with refreshments.
• Arrived in Camlez at Richard and Nadine’s house – I won’t try to describe how beautiful it is, wait for the pictures (and – wait for it – the Videos!!!)
• Drank and ate, etc…. Great restaurants in the area.
• Drove to Gangamp to the Avis branch there – paid for the damage and swapped the Ford Fiesta for a Renault, Megane (the only good thing that has happened with Avis – stay tuned for further info!)
• Left Brittany and drove to Normandy to be in time to be on the beaches for the 6th of June. Went via ‘Mont St Michel’ – absolutely stunning – just a pity it was an overcast day!
• Arrived in Mathieu, just north of Caen. Stayed with a wonderful family who could not do enough for us.
• Spent the next day on the beaches of Normandy for the D-Day commemorations. A wonderful day, learnt so much. The US Cemetary is the most beautiful place (and of course very moving)

• Left Paris in the pouring rain this morning – now on the Eurostar bound for London – or Beerland as I like to call it
• Arrived safely in London – had to evacuate ‘Kings Cross Station’ after we got off the Eurostar (yes truly!). Found Hotel & below is an image showing where we are (blue dot!), nicely between Hyde Park and Regents Gardens!

So we are waiting in the departure lounge (7:00am) at the Brittany Ferries waiting for the 8:00am Ferry to Roscoff. It is a 6 hour voyage.

We don’t have a hire car as yet – it was all a bit hard booking on the internet, so we shall see what we find when we arrive!

We had a nice day in Portsmouth yesterday. It is more of a typical seaside/holiday location (but no beaches) that I though (I have been here before, but a long time ago!). It has a massive ferris wheel, probably as large as the London Eye. The seafront is very nice & the harbour area (The Barbican) is full of pubs & restaurants.

And after leaving Birmingham in miserable rain – which continued for most of the day, this morning is almost completely clear skys – so we hope it stays that way!

So Bon-Voyage to us and we hope the rain keeps coming in Perth.

Ring of Kerry coastline

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday we traveled back to Donegal from Killarney after driving around the Ring of Kerry the previous day.

It is a fantastic drive, taking in spectacular views of the rugged coastline…

We stayed the night in Kilarney – again you have your pick of B&B’s at just 30 Euros a night including breakfast.

Donegal had a bad storm the morning we drove back and there was a fair amount of damage & power outages – but it has settled down now.

The next issue to overcome is the Icelandic Volcano eruption.   This morning all flights in and out of Scotland are cancelled & Airforce-One left Dublin last night instead of this morning in case they got stuck there…

All for now – off to see some friends farm in Convoy later today & then we fly back to Birmingham tomorrow afternoon.

Galway Bay

Today (Sat, 21st), Jen, Joy and I travelled from Convoy (in Donegal) to Galway in the rain !

Galway is a lovely place – bigger than I thought – it reminds me a little of Dublin.

Found a suitable B&B (there were dozens to choose from!) & we are relaxing before heading off to a Pub/Restaurant just up the road.

And they have WiFi which is a bonus (hence this Blog entry).

Sunday morning you will probably hear about a bomb in Londonderry. We were actually there just yesterday! Thankfully it appears there were no injuries.

Tomorrow we are off to drive the ‘Ring of Kerry’.

Beltany Stone Circle - Raphoe, Donegal Ireland

Hi everyone,  Sorry for the lack of postings, but we have either been travelling, having flight drama’s or on slow internet connections….

So here is a brief update…

• Arrived in KL – experienced mad drivers & some nice rain.  Got taken out for a nice Indian meal in ‘Little India’.  Went to the top of the Menara Tower for some fantastic views.
• Left early Saturday morning for the airport (another mad taxi driver!).  Had issues getting on the plane – My British passport came to the rescue (it even got Jen on board!).
• 14 hour flight was pleasant but of course tiring.
• Jumped onto the Standsted Express into London, a bit of Underground hoping to Eustace Station and onto the New Street Station Birmingham (via Coventry).
• Then finally a Taxi ride to Great Barr to Joy Peevers house (my Auntie – Mum’s youngest sister.
• Had lunch with her and my Cousin Chris.
• Monday off to Birmingham International to fly to Derry – and the fun began !!!!!!!
• Missed the Ryanair flight because we had not had our documentation stamped – Only Ryanair requires this for non EEU passengers!
• No flight until Wednesday!  So off to the FlyBee desk – they were very helpful and suggested we book on-line to save money.  A 4:05pm flight to Belfast was the only option.
• Went to the Hertz desk to change our Car pickup to Belfast – no problems.
• A nice flight to Belfast on a prop plane - Bombardier Dash 8 – weather was a bit wintery, but no problems…
• Went to the Hertz desk, but the car pickup had been changed to the International airport not the domestic !!!!  But all good, they had a brand new Ford Fiesta for us – which is very nice to drive.
• 2 hour drive to Convoy Donegal – all good !
• Arrived to find my dad had had a stroke Sunday afternoon and had been rushed to the Letterkenny hospital.
• But the good news is that he has recovered quickly (he had one 2 years ago !) and we went to the Hospital this afternoon (Tuesday) and brought him home.
• There is a surprise 90th birthday for him Friday night, so I hope the shock is not too much !
• This morning went for a walk to the Beltany Stone Circle – a Mini Stonehenge.  On top of a hill with beautiful views of Raphoe and the surrounding countryside (see image!).

That’s all folks – sorry for so little news, will try better next time 

Off to find some lunch!

Went for a walk in the rain and thunder!

Had an excellent meal in a Japanese restaurant.

Deciding what to do tomorrow?
Could be the Petronas Towers.
